Ameer Al-Khatahtbeh was a Rutgers undergraduate when he launched Muslim in February 2019, as a weekly newsletter, on the observation that nothing existed to keep young Muslims informed about the news happening to them. It is now a newsroom with more than ten million followers across Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat, supported by a Knight Foundation grant, and it produced the first Muslim show on Snapchat Discover, watched by around five million people a week. In 2021, at 22, he became the youngest honoree in the media category of the Forbes 30 Under 30. He is based in Jersey City.
