Panel
To Stay or To Go? Ethics of Working in Big Tech
Saturday, September 261:20 PM – 2:05 PMMedina
About this session
There is a conversation happening in group chats across this industry that has not been had on a stage: whether a person of conscience can keep working for the companies building the systems the Seven Stands name. This panel has it out loud, with people who chose differently: one who built the legal function at xAI from its earliest days, one who left Anthropic in 2026, one who led engineering at Google, Uber and Canva and now builds on his own terms, and a trial lawyer who acts only for workers and knows exactly what your employment agreement lets you say.
Who this is for
Anyone employed by, recruited by, or building in the shadow of a frontier company.
On the table
- Is more good done from inside, or is inside where good goes to be managed?
- What do you actually owe your employer, and what can they legally ask you to stay silent about?
- When is leaving a stand, and when is it a way of feeling clean?
You'll leave with
- Your decision treated as the serious moral question it is
- The legal facts beside the ethical ones: NDAs, non-disparagement, what is enforceable
- A way to draw the line between a job and complicity for yourself
Speakers
September 26 at Civic Hall, New York. Sessions are added to the agenda as they are confirmed.
