Ibrahim Afzal is a technical program manager at Google DeepMind, where he leads work to build factuality and reliability directly into foundational model development and into personalized assistant experiences. He began his career in strategy consulting before joining Meta’s Misinformation team, where he worked on reinforcement learning to develop models that detect political and health-related misinformation, and on algorithmic bias across social platforms, increasing visibility for underrepresented demographics. Before DeepMind he was at Apple, working on GPU software and on-device machine learning. The thread through all of it is responsible AI, model integrity and inclusive technology at scale.
