About
James Faghmous took his PhD in computer science at the University of Minnesota, working under Vipin Kumar at the intersection of data mining and climate change; the thesis won the university's best dissertation award in physical sciences and engineering in 2014. He then took those methods into health, as Chief Technology Officer of Mount Sinai's Arnhold Institute for Global Health and Assistant Professor of Population Health Science and Policy, applying AI to social, economic and policy data rather than clinical records. He has taught AI at MIT, Columbia, Stanford and USC, where he now lectures on applied machine learning, and is writing Spiritual Intelligence.
