Amany Killawi trained as a social worker at Wayne State and was running crowdfunding for a Detroit youth fellowship when she met the people she would start a company with. She was the first to go full time on LaunchGood, which she co-founded in 2013 and where she is COO, and which has since raised more than $650 million for causes in over 150 countries. Inc. named her to its Female Founders 100 in 2020. She is also a founding member of the Detroit Minds and Hearts Fellowship, which helps inner-city Muslim youth launch initiatives of their own.
